Seeing Through the Eye of God: Embracing Divine Love in Every Creature

When we look at the world around us, do we truly see it? Beyond the surface of trees, animals, rivers, and stars lies a deeper reality—a sacred majesty that invites awe and connection. This poem invites us to open our eyes and hearts to a vision where every being reflects the divine, where separation dissolves, and love becomes the only truth. This post explores how embracing this perspective can transform our relationship with creation and ourselves.

There is a seeing that asks nothing of the world except to let it be.

It does not reach toward creation to possess it, define it, or gather meaning from it. It rests so completely that every created thing is free to reveal the mystery quietly shining within it.

Then the tree is no longer merely a tree.

The river is no longer merely water.

The face before us is no longer a stranger.

Nothing has changed.

Yet everything has become transparent.

The heart begins to discover that the distance it once assumed existed between itself and the world was never held by creation. It was held only within the divided gaze. As that division softens, awe is no longer something one feels while looking at beauty.

Awe becomes the atmosphere in which all things are received.

The world is no longer encountered as countless separate forms.

It is encountered as an immeasurable communion, continually held within the living gaze of Divine Love.

Here, seeing is no longer an act of the individual.

It is participation in the eternal seeing of God.

The eye that beholds and the eye that is beheld are quietly gathered into one movement of love—not because the Creator and creation become indistinguishable, but because love leaves no distance untouched.

The heart no longer stands outside life, trying to understand it.

It yields into the Love from which life continually arises.

Then every face becomes worthy of reverence.

Not because every life appears beautiful.

Not because suffering has disappeared.

But because beneath every wound, every fear, every joy, and every story, there remains the untouched innocence held forever within the gaze of Christ.

This seeing does not ignore the world’s sorrow.

It enters it without leaving love.

It does not rush to repair what appears before it.

It first recognizes what has never ceased to be whole in God.

Such recognition is itself a quiet mercy.

For there is something within every being that remembers being seen in this way.

Sometimes that remembrance awakens without a word.

Sometimes it is enough simply to be looked upon without judgment.

Perhaps this is why the deepest contemplative vision is so gentle.

It has nothing left to prove.

Nothing left to defend.

Nothing left to separate.

Only to behold.

And in that beholding, the ordinary quietly becomes luminous.

Not because heaven has descended upon the earth,

but because the veil has grown thin enough

for the heart to recognize

that it has always lived

within the gaze

of Divine Love.
